THE COFFEE

THE COFFEE

workforce development

Social enterprises are businesses that are changing the world for the better. Our core value of hospitality has led our Social Enterprise to weaving Welcome Home Mats and recently smells like fresh roasted coffee. In creating a self-sustaining workplace structure, the products created during Social Enterprise are sold and the income is reinvested in the program. This allows Legacy to tackle social problems and improve people's life chances. So when a social enterprise profits, society profits.

The social enterprise component of Deborah's Legacy allows residents to reengage into relationships. Staff, volunteers and residents work shoulder to shoulder in an environment supporting healing. It is an opportunity for a woman in this fragile situation to be mentored while creating, healing and supporting each other in an environment that is conducive to their growth. Residents find meaningful employment while learning valuable skills in manufacturing, packaging, marketing, sales and administration. The opportunity enhances community by providing vocational skills development and engaged workforce while rewarding work ethic with supplemental wages. In this model, residents also become familiar with small business practices from inventory management, wholesale and resale of goods, display of product, customer invoicing and key customer service skills. Meaningful employment leading to financial freedom is instrumental to the healing journey.
